For the past 3 days, I have put Eva on the potty when I picked up her signals. She nurses several times a night, but this morning, when she woke for her first nursing session of the morning, I put her on the potty and she peed for about 10 seconds. I caught a poop late morning before we went to pick Ian up at school.

It's wonderful to hear how well EC is going for you. I will definitely be watching for signs as time passes from our little one and just might have to give this a go!
I'm so thrilled with your progress in EC! It was something I definitely had considered and since I plan to be home more with #2, we will be trying it. Thomas is letting us know when he pees or is going to pee now, but we haven't quite made the connection to the toilet for him. Baby steps, right? ;)
Amanda B. (Hypnobirthing Amanda) suggested we start an EC group. Sounds like there might be enough interest...
Diaper-Free Baby is the book she read. There is also a website and the author lives in Tokyo.
OLB, you can start right from birth if you are really ambitious. I think that breastfeeding is more important than infant tolieting, though and if your baby has sleep issues, it might be too much to handle. However, if you really are interested in trying to do it as soon as possible after birth, you might try to read Diaper Free Baby or go to the DFB forum or Mothering's EC forum (or others) to learn about how to start so that if things fall into place easily, you can get going right away with at least the observation.
How wonderful! Glad this is working for you.
I follow a blog called sew liberated. Her baby is about Eva's age and she is doing EC. She is a Montessori trained too... You might check out her progress: http://sewliberated.typepad.com
I am interested with EC too. Lumi's poo signal is very easy to catch, since she poos like only 3 times a week, always started with a big sound, I managed to help her out into toilet few times. I think I should get a potty for her this weekend.
Brenda,
Start with her poops and then you will get better at knowing when she needs to pee without really trying. Even if you only get the poops, it is still fun and a lot less messy than changing a dirty diaper.
Hi Mama Seoul, I haven't visited your blog for a while and I am glad I got caught up on what you are up to!! Your EC experiments sound so good kind of makes me want to try it ... maybe half the time I know when K is trying to poop (stopping moving and quite hilarious facial expression of concentration!!!). You and Eva are really clever. I think it is really cute than Ian was cheering her on too!
Lee,
Try it! It is fun. I think if I did it full time and kept her pantsless it would be too stressful, but now, with her in cloth diapers and just putting her on the potty when I notice/guess that she needs to go, it is fun. If I miss it is no big deal. Haven't changed a poopy diaper since I started!
